job change after green card approval
does anyone here know about changing jobs after receiving the green card? a lot of people are saying to stay with the employer for at least 180 days post green card approval, but there are no such conditions attached to the green card by USCIS. and if they are worried about fraudulence, then why can’t we just show our tax documents, pay stubs, offer letter, etc? I thought the goal was to have same rights as citizens besides voting and travel restrictions. so this doesn’t add up. someone please enlighten me. Thanks!

can you afford to stick around 6 months?
Nelly VSep 6, 2022
Hi, you could've filed portability after 180 days of your i-485 pending. since this is not the case and you have already been approved, lawyers recommend staying that long to prove you had good faith in working for your enployer. it doesn't happen like that sometimes. if your partner lives in another state, or your child, etc, you have reason to move or leave before that recommended timeline. They can revoke the green card during the first 5 years if they determine it was fraudulent. if you have a good enough reason to leave, you can before the lawyer recommended timeframe. you are correct, USCIS doesn't specifically state how long you're supposed to remain with the employer.

6 months mandate is after I-140 approval. you have no obligation to stay in a company even for one day after getting your green card. there might be some internal company rules and stuff though.
