anyone here had the 2 year home residency, section 212(e) from being a j1? what was the process like getting it waived to adjusting your status?

did you receive government funding? if so, then most likely a hardship or IGA waiver will be best. If not, then do a no objection waiver.

yes I did the no objection it was approved by uscis. At the time of my interview I didn’t have the approval notice but it was sent to uscis for approval. so they requested it after the interview. it’s been about six months since I submitted the document haven’t received a response since. wondering if these cases typically take a while. I did receive a “no objection statement” from my home country, was I suppose to submit that as well with the waiver document that I got from uscis ?

I see, I think you're good it's a matter of waiting. I did a hardship waiver because mine was a us govt Sponsored Program but still waiting for a final decision from DoS. it's been 28 days since they received the sponsor views. Meanwhile my lawyer advised me to file for adjustment of status in Dec 2023. So far, the i-130 has been approved without an interview but the i-485 has is still pending.
