my date was not current when my 485j was approved 50 days ago. it has become current in April visa bulletin.

Yes, that can be normal. I-485J approval means USCIS accepted the job offer confirmation or portability request, but it does not automatically approve the green card. The I-485 still needs visa availability, background checks, medical review, admissibility review, and final officer action. Six weeks is only an anecdotal pattern, not a rule.
