If your I-130 is already approved and the case is at the National Visa Center (NVC), the general flow is: Submit documents and fees to NVC Once “documentarily qualified” (DQ), you wait for interview scheduling After DQ, most IR5 cases are seeing interviews scheduled in roughly 1 to 4 months, but this can vary significantly by embassy. Some posts move faster, others can take longer depending on backlog. If you are still waiting on I-130 approval, then the interview timeline has not started yet. A couple of practical points: IR5 is an immediate relative category, so there is no visa backlog The main variable is consulate capacity, not priority date Once scheduled, you usually get the interview date about 3 to 6 weeks in advance If you share which embassy or where you are in the process, I can give a more tailored estimate. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them in our next Lawfully office hours session!. - Attorney Rami Lee (All information shared here is for general educational purposes only. @mohammad hasan my daughter’s I-130 approved and her I-485 documents are in NVC office. Her latest approval showed in February but we still haven’t received anything. It doesn’t allow us to request updates until April 2026. I really don’t know what to do anymore. could you please give us some suggestions for what to do next? I appreciate your time.
