Interview cancelled
Hello, I am going through a bit of a weird situation at the moment. Me and my wife had out interview this past May 2022. Everything went well but there was a slight typo in my I-693 that required it to be corrected. The IO said that once it was corrected, I would get my GC in the mail within two weeks. Well, my I-130 was approved the day after the interview and the I-485 required an RFE. I fixed the I693 and sent it to them. This is where things start to get weird. 2 months after my interview, in July of 2022, I received a letter stating that my I485 interview had been cancelled. It was dated the same day i got an online status change from "RFE respond received" to "case actively reviewed". I called my lawyer and told him the situation and he said it sounded like a glitch so I should just save the letter for my records since they have not received anything. Well, time passes and I get anxious an I contact a live agent through emma to know what's the latest movement regarding my case. The emma agent said that my case is waiting for an interview since my interview got cancelled. I brushed it off since I have read online that they tend to just make up whatever they want. Well, a few days ago my online status changed from "case actively reviewed" on x on July to "case actively reviewed" on x day on December. I got excited since I read that sometimes this means your case got approved and you will get an approval notice on the mail. I decided to contact EMMA again and lo and behold, they notify my interview has been scheduled. At this point I start to feel uneasy because it sounds a lot like a stokes. I waited for the letter and the letter I received states that it is an initial interview, just for my I485. It looks the exact same as the first noticed I received except its only for my I485. The things is, my wife is out of the country working with the military and will be out until at least July of 2023. Sorry for the wall of text. Has anyone else experienced something similar? #AOS #Interview #SecondInterview

Go for the interview without your wife but make sure you go with your wife’s military orders to prove why she couldn’t come along. Your lawyer should know this and probably go with you to the interview as well

RoRo has said it all. Go to the interview alone with your lawyer and go along with your wife’s military paperwork to show she has been deployed. They will either approve or reschedule but just make sure you go on the interview date.

update: so the interview was regarding a supposed entry into the US a few years ago. That didn't happen. I told them it must be a mistake because I havent left the country since 2011. They made me sign a sworn declaration and told me they would investigate the matter further. I have very low hopes because I don't think I have a way of proving I didn't cross. We shall see what happens.
