Interview Canceled
Has anyone had their I-130, I-485, or I-751 interview canceled due to being from one of the banned countries? If so, did the cancellation notice state that the reason was the country of origin?

@Dee Tee Is your country a part of the first 19? second 20 or the third 75 banned country?

I heard the ban will only affect the people outside of the United States. not the i485s and i751s

@Rocco Forté Hubby’s interview was canceled, he is a British citizen but was born in one of the banned countries. Here’s what the notice says “This is to advise you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have canceled the previously scheduled interview on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 12:50PM for the above applicant. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. You will be notified of any further action taken on this case, including any rescheduled interview information, under separate notice.

@E Ll Hubby’s interview was cancelled, maybe it’s just a regular cancellation that would be later be rescheduled.
Rocco FortéJan 20, 2026
@Dee Tee They said they will go by country of birth when treating the cases of banned countries. So the ban is definitely the reason why the interview was canceled.
Dee TeeJan 20, 2026
@Rocco Forté are you able to direct me to where that is mentioned? I can’t find anything like that. I’d think if that’s the case, they wouldn’t schedule the interview at all?
Rocco FortéJan 20, 2026
@Dee Tee Find the policy manual above. Says country of birth or country of citizenship. Simply put, even if you have citizenship of another country, your country of birth still applies.

@Rocco Forté Refernce above is dated December 2nd. 75 countries immigration visa is banned recently and effective on 21st. Are you sure it is canceled because of that?
Rocco FortéJan 21, 2026
@A B There have been three bans. One from June 2025 (19 countries), one from December 16 2025 (20 countries added to the original 19) that took effect on January 1st 2026 and one from January 14 2026 by the State Department that will take effect tomorrow being the 21st of January. All the countries in the first 19 and second 20 countries are part of the 75 that got banned on January 14 by the State Department. USCIS has come out to say they are pausing cases filed by people from all the banned first 39 countries who just so happen to also be a part of the banned 75 countries. Yet, people are still wondering if their interviews got canceled because of the ban? of course that’s why interviews are getting canceled and cases left unadjudicated.
Rocco FortéJan 21, 2026
@E Ll Lol When will the pause be over? Anything that prevents you from gaining the ability to come to the US is a ban. No matter what language they want to paint it with. I don’t know how it isn’t clear to a lot of people that they don’t want immigrants from certain countries coming here. We should all pray that the numerous lawsuits challenging their actions are successful.

@Rocco Forté the ban will be over at some point. Non immigrant Visas are being issued everyday by the US Embassy & Consulate in my country which is also on the list of the banned countries.
Rocco FortéJan 21, 2026
@Jennie . Hopefully “some point” will be soon. Unfortunately, a lot of people in here aren’t seeking non immigrant visas.

today was my I-485 interview 1/21/2026 but yesterday cancelled my today’s interview it says we cancelled or deschedule the interview for i485 and I’m from one of the 75 countries so disappointed I don’t know what to do in this situation
Rocco FortéJan 21, 2026
@Z S So sorry about this. You just have to wait until they restart adjudication
Emil A.Jan 21, 2026
its not official. USCIS didn't approved 75 countries ban. irs just a news from social media and from tv.
Rocco FortéJan 21, 2026
@Emil A. Wow lmao ok
Dee TeeJan 21, 2026
@Z S so sorry you had to experience this too. On your documents tab, is this what you also have in your notice? "This is to advise you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have canceled the previously scheduled interview for the above applicant. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. You will be notified of any further action taken on this case, including any rescheduled interview information, under separate notice.“ or did they give any other reason or details?
Vanou DzaliJan 22, 2026
@Rocco Forté the 75 countries are not banned . there's a temporary suspension for immigrant visas.
Vanou DzaliJan 22, 2026
my country ws not in the 19 norh the 39 banned countries but it was added in the 75 countries.
Rocco FortéJan 22, 2026
@Vanou Dzali Ahhh temporary suspension …got it. Usually a suspension qualifies as temporary when it has a start and end date. Visas were suspended indefinitely and we somehow want to convince ourselves that it isn’t a ban. Like I said earlier, let’s all pray that the numerous court cases challenging this madness are successful.
Vanou DzaliJan 22, 2026
@Rocco Forté you’re right. we just want to believe that it is not a ban. I didn’t know there are court cases. hopefully something comes out of it. because as of now, there is no more a legal way to immigrate to the US
Rocco FortéJan 22, 2026
@Vanou Dzali That’s exactly their plan. They want to prevent immigration for people from certain countries. I believe the lawsuit challenging the USCIS pause will be successful. I’m afraid that if the lawsuits don’t work, this pause will remain in place until this administration leaves office.
