interfiling i693 before get rfe ?
Hi everyone,
I have a question about the I-693 medical exam and the recent form update. I completed my medical exam about 2 months ago, and the civil surgeon signed it before USCIS released the new edition of Form I-693 in July 2025.
Now I’m worried — since the form edition has changed, does that mean my sealed I-693 is no longer valid? Or will USCIS still accept it since it was the correct edition at the time my doctor signed it?
I haven’t submitted it yet (planning to interfile), so I want to be sure before I send it. Has anyone else submitted their I-693 recently with the older edition and had it accepted?
Thanks in advance for your guidance!

Don't worry.
the date civil surgeon signed will be counted as the corresponding date for which form used.

@Shweta P i would not do that if i were you.
most interfiled medicals will not reach the office processing your case.
if there is rfe then again you have to do new medical.
save the medical and only send when rfe is requested or bring it with you if you are called for interview

I submitted mine on July 10th. There’s a note USCIS website that says: ‘01/20/25. If the civil surgeon signs your form on or before July 2, 2025, you must use the 03/09/23 or the 01/20/25 edition. If the civil surgeon signs your form July 3, 2025 or later, USCIS will accept only the 01/20/25 edition. You can find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the form and instructions.’

@Einar Adam I figure it out Form I-693 Edition 03/09/2023 and expires 03/31/2025 . I did my medical on june 2025 and still not getting rfe. so in this scenario does this i693 valid to submit uscis after getting rfe or also can I interfile with cover letter with I-485 Receipt Notice to avoid delays??

@Shweta P I don’t recommend interfile your medical. My friend got an RFE for medical in March and submitted it in April, but he still received an interview notice later. At the interview, the officer asked him to bring a new medical anyway. So interfile doesn’t really help, especially since interviews are a trend right now. You can’t do anything right now except wait.

@Einar Adam Did you interfile i693 or submit after you get rfe ?? can you let me know ??

@Shweta P if you used for 3/23 or 1/25 and your civil surgeon signed your form on or before July 3rd. You don’t need to do anything. But if you used form 3/23 and your suregon signed it after July 3rd then technically your medical exam isn’t valid anymore and will probably get an RFE. For me I used 3/23 form and it was signed before July 3 so I didn’t need to do anything.

@Einar Adam I did medical on june 2025 and it's signed on june 17 2025. and my Form edition is 3/23.. so it will be valid for both interfiling aswell as after rfe right,?

@Shweta P I submitted my medical form with my AOS application. I don’t think it matters but as far as if your form is valid or not it’s valid according to USCIS notes. I’m not a lawyer but if I were you I would just submit it since you already did it. But if you’re that confused you might need to consult a lawyer.
