VAWA-ID CARD RENEWAL
Hello family!has anyone been able to renew their state ID or license with the receipt notice from USCIS?I went to RMV today to renew but was told i cannot until my current id expires to see if there is anything that will change in their system.(I should come back a day or two after the expiration date on my current EAD card).I have 27 days more for the old one to expire.Anyone has an idea what this is all about?

here in Nevada they won’t renew it system does not allow them and honestly DMV is not trained about immigration they will just turn your License into an authorization card because technically we’re not legal in here we are just in process of that

In Arizona, I was able to use my receipt notice to get a one year extension on my DL while I was waiting for an extension of E-3 status

@Rosy ann I was at Vegas DMV last week within 2 days of my driver license expired and they told me the same thing, to come back after it’s expired and they could see it the system will show them something about it. I have another appointment next week, let’s see what they would say

What @murife don’t run said. I'm in CT and I don't need any immigration documents to get a drivers license. The PF does qualify you for federal aid to go to school so use that also if you can

depends on state. in MD...u cannot use receipt notices to get the real ID compliant drivers license

same thing in florida you can use receipt but they will not renew until it expires

yes it all on the state. it differes from state to state. You have to check with your DMV
