I’ve filed for my petition and need the access code for online account which I request and I got call from USCIS agent she ask me few questions to verify and then put me on hold and came back and said I have to go USCIS office to see them in person to process the request…..is it normal? because I do see people get detained and arrest at the sites. what should I do?

That situation sounds suspicious. USCIS usually doesn’t call people to tell them to come in person for an access code. That’s a big red flag and could be a scam. They should not go anywhere or give out personal information until they confirm it’s real. They should call USCIS directly at 1-800-375-5283 or check their case on the official USCIS website. If the request is real, there will be an official letter or message in their USCIS account. If they’re worried, they should talk to an immigration lawyer before doing anything. This doesn’t sound like deportation—it sounds more like a scam or a mistake.

More like a scam, they usually don't call. They must communicate with mail.

@I can't wait to see if the green card is really green it was a legit call and after ending the call I received the email by saying thanks for talking to us.

@b b This is not normal. I would call USCIS and ask them about this. They mail you codes, you don’t go in person. I would closely look at the email. This sounds like a scam to me.

@Kingsley B I called them and they said there might be a new rule and they can schedule an appointment for in person. And I was speechless and said no thanks

@b b That is very weird. You should not fear going to interviews and things in person because some people have been detained. This is for people with removal orders and people with criminal convictions. There is a lot of fear being pumped in the news.

@Kingsley B @I can't wait to see if the green card is really green that was the number I received the call +1 (202) 838-2104

@b b That is their number. I am very shocked they called for an access code. I got a call from that number when I got an emergency advanced parole. Sorry I said it seemed weird, but I have not heard of them calling for things like that. But don’t be scared to go unless there are reasons to be. They are not targeting people doing AOS and are here legally.
