how long it took for the judge to terminate your removal proceeding?

Josue : because I have an asylum case back in 2012 before getting married to my husband . the asylum case was closed after the approval of my i130 . but my removal proceeding with the court wasn’t terminated so when I went for my i485 interview uscis didn’t have juridiction to make a decision on my case so they administratively closed it and ask for me to first terminate my removal proceeding with the court

Sam bek : the motion to terminate only took 2 months for both the dhs and the judge to approved . but I have to wait more than a year to be able to submit it ( Covid 19 so the court was closed ) and also during trump era they didn’t approve any motion

@cladia were you able to have a work permit during all this waiting period or nothing at all?

@🤔🤫 yes i always have a working permit . I renew 3 times in total ( it’s free to renew with the receipt of your i485 when you are in category c9) the last one came 2 months ago and it’s valid for 2 years now instead of 1 year

thanks I’m on the same process I wasn’t sure about that because many people saying that I shouldn’t apply for ead until after the judge terminated my proceeding but I applied for it anyway so now im just waiting. it’s only been two since I applied

@ J R I was in removal, had i130 approved then removal got terminated, then my attorney sent the judge’s letter to USCIS to reopen the i485, now it’s open and ready to schedule for an interview

just a quick question how long it took you the whole process to termite?

@ JR it took me over 2 and half year, it would have been done in 8 to 9 months and then Covid came, 5 of my hearings got canceled because of that, and it took around 6 months to reopen i485 with USCIS after removal termination.

@ Brasileira hi . no decision yet , I receive a rfe for new i693 medical to be redone since I submit initially was already expired . send the rfe to my local office nyc and am still waiting for the final decision . it’s been a month now .

back in 2019 when I have my i485 interview . it’s only valid 2 years so that’s totally normal

oh I actually can see it . the decision was never made the case was just administratively closed In 2019 right after my interview because I was in removal proceeding

Hi Brasileira, Hi Claudia, Any update on your cases? My case was reopened on july 2022, wondering what will be my next process and how long it will take? I had only I-130 interview and approved in 2015. Applied I-485 in 2021 was Administratively closed before Interview. I am from NYC.

hi Jessica . brasiliera finally get her approval and green card . my case was reopen 3 months ago I received a rfe for new medical since the last one was expired . I send the answer of the rfe on may 31 to federal plaza . am still waiting for an update .

Hi Claudia, Any update on your case? It has been 5 months now since my I-485 was reopened. I have not heard anything.

hi Jessica . since the rfe in may still nothing . I already made 3 service request and it always the same answer “ they are still working on my case “ the 180 days are way passed at this point . my lawyer decide to made a request to the ombudsman. we now have to wait 40-50days for an answer .
