I have a question about applying for a green card with a J1 waiver.
Last year I got my J1 waiver approved in March but it was never delivered to my mailbox, took me a long time to find out because I never got any notification.
When I contacted uscis they told me I should request a copy with form i-824. I filed in August, in #Vermont Office. It is been 9 months (processing time 13.5 months )
If I do not get it in the next couple of months I need to leave the USA.
So I would like to know if I do not get it I could file for the green card without this document and wait for RFE. Although no lawyer said anything about it I read somewhere here that I could but it is not recommended.
Someone here to share about form #i-824 or applying with a #J1waiver?
I also got in contact with a senator but not sure if they can really help since my case is still in normal processing times.
I never thought it would take so long to get a copy. Less than 2 minutes anyone can't do it.

you can start the process by sending a copies of your favorable recommendation letter and j1 waiver receipt with your application. They will accept those while you wait for the approval letter. USCIS can also use your receipt number to check your status. that's what I did and I'm now awaiting interview date.

I don't have any favorable recommendation letter. I just saw on the website, and then that was approved. But I never got anything on my mail.
