@Arun Ahlawat congratulations! Your case will go to the NVC now that’s it been approved. Once it arrives at the NVC and they accept it they will send it to the US embassy nearest your fiancé. The embassy will send instructions to complete the DS-160 on line. You all will need to complete Form I-134 Affidavit of support also. Once you complete these you can go the The embassy’s site and make your appointment for an interview and how to pay your fees.

@JD L You can fill out the I-134 now. You can find the form on line and fill it out, then print and sign. Only the person that fills it out needs to sign it. You don’t have to wait to file your DS-160 if you know exactly which US embassy your case is being sent. For instance my fiancé is in The Gambia, but his case went to Senegal. https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ Also, once you start your 160 application make sure to take note of your application number before you move one. I just took to a screenshot shot of it.

Also, when do K1 approvals receive welcome letter. As soon as case is created in NVC or when the case gets sent to the local embassy? so confusing…

@JD L no it won’t speed up the process. However, at least it will be complete by the time you get the letter from the embassy. The welcome letter comes after the embassy accepts your case. It will come with information for scheduling your appointment for your interview, medical examination instructions along with your case number and other instructions.

@JD L I am happy to help. Yes, you can help her fill out DS-160. My fiancé and I split the form since it was easier answering questions about ourselves. Once you start the application you can save it and then share the log in information. However,as the petitioner,you fill out and sign the I-134.

I received an email today and the subject line says “the nvc sent your K1 to the consulate/embassy in …” then the attachement says: The National Visa Center (NVC) received your fiancé (e)’s/spouse’s approved I-129F petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). NVC will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in…… Please note that the transfer process can take several weeks. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate will contact your fiancé (e)/spouse when they are ready to process his or her petition. Next steps: Go to our website http://nvc.state.gov/k1 to learn how to apply for a K visa and prepare for the visa interview.

I also have a case number now. I think I’m more than half way thru the journey. What timeline do you think is now expected?

@JD L that’s amazing NEWS!!! Yes, you are more than halfway through. It’s hard to provide a timeline because it depends when the embassy will have an opening to make an interview appointment. Once you receive the letter from the US embassy you can set up an account to check for appointments. Mine came about two weeks after I got this notification from the NVC.

@JD L yes, fill out and submit your DS-160 on the CEAC site. You don’t submit your docs on line, your fiancé take them with her to her interview. You’ll need all the docs you submitted with your petition. More pics and proof that the relationship is still going. The affidavit of support, her medical examine records. You’ll also need supporting doc for the affidavit of support. Tax records, bank statements, letter from job showing your salary and time you have been with the company. She’ll need to passport pics. Police certificate. I can’t remember what else, but you’ll get instructions once you get the letter from the embassy. You will find appointments available once you receive the letter from the US embassy. They will provide instructions to set up an account on their site. We were able to get an appointment for next month for his interview. As I stated before getting an interview appointment depends when the embassy has an appointment date available.

@JD L yes, non immigrantion for the DS-160. Yes you can fill out the I-134, print it and sign it, she will take this with her to the interview. I read somewhere they will need the original signed copy of the I-134. I’m not sure how true that is, but I sent it to my fiancé for good measure.

@JD L yes, you can be there for moral support. They may ask you a few questions, but you may not be with her the entire. (This is what I’ve read from blogs) Yours may go differently, but you can go with her.

@JD L No your petition is on the way to the embassy. Once they receive it you will get an email from them how to set up your appointment.

@JD L that doesn’t sound correct. The embassy has to contact you informing they have received your petition. Otherwise how would you know? Remember the email you already received, it clearly stated: “NVC will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in..... Please note that the transfer process can take several weeks. @E. Williams Badjie Hello, Our application is currently in the 'Ready' stage and awaiting scheduling for an appointment. However, my fiancé is Syrian, and since there is no U.S. embassy in Syria, we had to choose the next closest one in Amman, Jordan. Unfortunately, the Amman embassy does not allow Syrians to schedule their own appointments; they schedule them themselves. It has been taking months, and we have not received any updates regarding the interview date. Additionally, they are not responding to emails listed on their website. I have reached out to the senator’s office for assistance with this matter. Do you or anyone else have any suggestions for other ways we can obtain an update on the interview process?
