ok. let’s start with who your sponsor is or are. if your sponsor is just one person using his or her own personal income and that income is above the poverty guideline for his household including you, then only I-864 is needed. If the sponsor is using his or her income and that of his or her spouse or that of any other member of his household, the other household members needs to file I-864A and the actual sponsor will file I-864. I-864A is “filled and signed by both sponsor and his household member whose income is also stated on the tax form 1040. what I mean is, there is a portion of I-864A meant to be filled out and signed by the actual sponsor. let me know if you need more clarification.
