I-765 under VAWA
I’m looking for some advice from anyone with a similar timeline.
I filed my VAWA case together with my I-485 and I-765 (category C09). I completed biometrics over 7 months ago, and I’m still waiting for my EAD with no updates at all.
I’m currently an international student (not from one of the travel-restricted countries) and I’m worried because I need my work authorization to continue working after I graduate.
Has anyone with a VAWA-based C09 EAD been waiting this long? When did you receive your approval?
Also, has anyone successfully expedited their I-765? If so, what reason did you use, and what evidence did USCIS ask for? I’m wondering if severe financial loss or a job offer has worked for anyone.

Filed December 2022, did biometrics May 2023, got my combo card July 2023. It expired in 2025 and I applied for a renewal, waited about 6 to 7 months and got a 5yr EAD along with my travel doc. I also traveled internationally in December 2023. I have C09

10 months applied in September 2022 and renewal 2.5 months in December 2024

@that applicant how about the first time you file for your EAD card? bc you mentioned this was a renewal??

@Luis cornejo first time it took about 9 months but I think ead are taking longer now because of backlog I was able to get my ead and ap in 9 months the first time that was back on 2021

I didn't file any expedited case. May lawyer just applied for my EAD renewal 180 days before it expires. @Luis cornejo

I am a VAWA applicant and would appreciate some advice. I need to renew my Employment Authorization Document (EAD). I previously filed under the C31 category since last year June 2025 but I have not received any approval yet. Do you think I should submit a new Form I-765 under the C09 category instead? Has anyone been in a similar situation or can offer any advice? Thank you.

i have been waiting since May 22, 2025 for C9 EAD under VAWA, so same case. it looks like I may be approaching the end soon. stay strong, you will soon hear something back!

@Luis cornejo I’m waiting for my congressman’s inquiry at the moment. I’m also not from one of the travel restricted countries.
