Hi. I am in L2 Ead and had filed my I 765 (renewal) on May 18 this year. but so far no update . Till now it is not Adjudicated. In the mean time our i94 is going to expire in month of Nov. So we recently filed our extension of stay and received the receipt number as well. should I ammend the old application of i765 or I need to file a new application.

Hi Subha, I am not sure you can amend your old application, but you can try. Call them and ask and explain you would like to provide an updated I94 for your EAD application. Hopefully since you submitted I765 recently , they will be able to see your updated i94 in their system. it is important they look at your new i94 date and not the one you had when you applied in May. Also, I’m still waiting for my EAD and I applied in April. it’s a long wait unfortunately. Good luck 🙏

Can you clarify? Usually L2/L2 ead filed together part of extension process for timely adjudication. I hope your current L2 ead is with Nov expiry which is same as L2 validity. Why did you filed L2 ead again in May before filing L2 extension? If they adjudicate your L2 ead as standalone, you will get validity till Nov only based on current approved L2. Not sure if I’m missing something here.

Quickest way to extend I94 is to leave the country and come back ( if it’s an option for you). I took a quick trip to Mexico and back to extend my I94. Definitely faster than filing any forms as I think those may take months to get approved.

My AP isn’t approved yet so I can’t leave the country. i guess I’ll have to fill forms

@Murali K .. I got my EAD till July 10(my DOB ) for 2 years. however I was expecting till Nov as My L2 is expiring on 39 Nov. that is why I filed for renewal of my EAD till Nov 30.

@Murali K .. my husband got his I 129 approved for next two year and I filed my I 539 and got the receipt notice as well. but my question is (1) should I file a new I 765 or (2) should I amend my old receipt. I am unable to connect to USCIS representative as well.

@Subha - Pls amend with old receipt. You can send cover letter along with 765 receipt & new 539 receipt/primary L1 approval notice. They will update your case with correspondence.
