I-751 Case transferred to national benefits center
Please everyone,
I just received a transferred notice of my case I-751 to national benefits center. The reason stated was “We have completed preliminary review of your case. As part of a standard processing, we have transferred your case to the USCIS office (national benefits center, lee’s summit) who has jurisdiction over your case. The office will notify you when they make decision on your case or if they need additional information”.
please what does this mean? is it a good sign or what? is it something I should be worrying about?
please help.

as they say in thr notice, it's part of the standard processing. theyve done an initial check on the files to look for any errors or missing information , now you will be waiting for a while approx 18 months until someone looks at your file again.

thank you so much @steve w and @happy singh , I filed it since August 2022, I got RFE in Nov of 2023, and I responded to the RFE in Feb, 2024 now this case has been transferred. Waiting for another months is crazy lol
Adam TApr 14, 2024
@Joshua A Mind me asking what was the RFE since it sounded serious 🧐 as it took approximately 3 months or so to get it. If not, that is okay. Thank you!
Joshua AApr 14, 2024
@Adam T it was more evidences to prove that the marriage was in good faith. I failed with waiver because I and my ex got divorced. I submitted all the relevant documents to them
steve wApr 14, 2024
OK, seeing as you filed a while ago your wait time will be much shorter, provided you satisfy the RFE this time then you might only be waiting weeks, it's possible they'll want to interview though.
steve wApr 14, 2024
@Joshua A when you say "failed" you mean you got an RFE? very few 751s actually end refused with or without divorce waivers
Adam TApr 14, 2024
@Joshua A Thank you for sharing! I appreciate it 😊All the best!!
Joshua AApr 14, 2024
@steve w So sorry the “failed” was a typo instead of filed.
That was exactly the same thing I did; I submitted the final decree and other documents via my attorney, and also responded to the RFE via my attorney too.
@Adam T Thank you for your best wishes and I wish you the same, the journey isn’t easy at all lol.

@Joshua A my case also got transferred to Lee’s Summit center. It’s just USCIS trying to efficiently allocate their resources. No need to be concerned, it means your case is moving. I got approved without interview after case moved to Lee’s Summit. Only issue is that Lee’s summit NBC moves really slow. You have to keep calling to push them
Joshua AApr 15, 2024
@Hector Chavez Thank you very much; how long did your case takes them to approve after the transfer? Do I have to wait for my inquiry date before I start calling them?
Hector ChavezApr 15, 2024
@Joshua A after transfer it took over 2yrs to get approval. It’s almost as if they just let the case file sit there unattended once it gets to Lee’s summit. I recommend calling and requesting for a Tier-2 officer. You only need to wait intervals if you’re submitting the inquiries online.

@Hector Chavez thank you so so much for this information. August 2024 will make it two years since I submitted it because I filed August 2022, and they requested for RFE in November 2023; I responded in January 2024.
how long in total did your case took; from filing to decision? At which point was it transferred? sorry for asking you too much questions.
Hector ChavezApr 15, 2024
@Joshua A Filed May 2020. Got Biometrics update in January 2021. Got notice of my case being transferred to Lee’s summit National Benefits Center around August of 2021. After that I didn’t hear anything back until they sent an RFE in October of 2023, over 2yrs of silence. I submitted the RFE around December of 2023. Then case was finally approved in April of 2024. So almost 4yrs for me.
My wife and I were separated when I received the RFE request. So I didn’t have that much new evidence to send. I just resent the old ones and added a letter explaining my separation to USCIS. I guess that was enough to get an approval. No interviews.
Joshua AApr 15, 2024
@Hector Chavez that was a long wait, I can imagine the feelings within these waiting time.
I also got separated before I filed; got RFE already around November 2021 and responded January 2024 before this transfer first week in April 2024. I pray they don’t have to start afresh again.
Thank you so much for taking your time to share all these with me, it is highly appreciated.

@Adam T @steve w @Hector Chavez @happy singh I just got status update that my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview.
Please any I-751 interview tips. Case is filing by myself because I already got divorced from my ex-wife.
Hector ChavezApr 19, 2024
@Joshua A Did you get this update in an email after submitting an Inquiry or is it showing up in the status update on the USCIS website. I got a similar update from the Lee’s submit office after submitting an inquiry but the interview was never scheduled; went straight to approval. My lawyer confirmed that the system sends out that status update by default once they start reviewing your case and find no errors in your application packet. It goes into the interview bucket after that initial review where they end up deciding if they need to interview you or not. Most times they don’t interview for I-751. Especially if you already had a joint interview for your I-485 previously.
Joshua AApr 19, 2024
@Hector Chavez thank you so much, this was so helpful. I got it on the uscis website. I made an inquiry sometimes last week via Emma to a live agent who told me that my case was still under review before getting this update yesterday evening. I tapped from your approval grace without interview. I really don’t want to go face those guys again and I was interviewed for my I-485 lol .
Please how long did it take from this ready to be scheduled for an interview to when you received the approval? sorry for asking you many questions.
steve wApr 19, 2024
@Joshua A as @Hector Chavez says, it's possible you won't be interviewed but I'd start preparing now as if you will be so you are ready if it should happen. check out some videos on YouTube for guidance specifically for divorce waiver interviews.
Joshua AApr 19, 2024
@steve w and @Hector Chavez thanks a lot, I will start watching some videos now.
