I-751 case is ready to be scheduled for an interview
I applied to remove condition from my green card through divorce waiver. Now my status state case is ready to be scheduled for an interview after it was transferred from Nebraska to national benefits center in first week in April. Does it now mean that they must schedule me for an interview or the field office can waive the interview? if they must conduct an interview, what should I expect because I and my ex wife divorced in June of 2022. Thanks a lot.

@Joshua A that’s precisely why they are scheduling you for an interview. it would be near impossible for them to waive it if there is a divorce. The interview would mainly circle around the divorce and if the marriage was bonafide to begin with. Make sure to have so much proof of bonafide plus good reasons for divorce and documentation as to why things changed from first approval. Focus on that and you will be fine

@Joshua A what @Way Maker mentioned is spot on and have all of it! Your entire interview is going to be about your divorce. It will start all the way where you met, how things arrived to you guys being divorced. Bring as much as possible evidence to the interview! As long as your marriage was bona fide you have nothing to worry about. Good luck!

@Adam T and @Way Maker Thank you so much; I already submitted the following documents via my attorney and I will go with them to the interview if they eventually schedule it. 1. Employee retirement service; having her as my beneficiary 2. life insurance; me her as my beneficiary and vise visa 3. joint bank account 4. Tax return; filed as married filing separately 5. 401k; having her as my beneficiary 6. rental insurance having both of us 7. letter from 3 friends, and a declared statement from me on how we met and how the marriage ended. 8. some receipts 9. few pictures together 10. etc. What do you think about these documents?

@Joshua A what’s your reason for the divorce? if your ex wife is contacted by USCIS will she say the same reason as what you will tell them? Did you all try to resolve things or quickly called it quits? They will ask very personal questions. So be ready to lay it all out without a stutter, don’t look like you are pulling stories from the sky. Have correct and precise timelines as well. Don’t mix up your dates. Do you have evidence of marriage crumbling other than a divorce decree? No need to panic, just be prepared and pray for a good officer who won’t drill you too much, but also don’t give them a reason to dig deeper. Have evidence of why marriage crumbled and be confident in your explanation of facts, supported by some level of verifyable proof. If you have this, then you just breeze through. Did you have have an interview when they initially approved your green card?

@Way Maker yes, she will say the same reason because it was the truth. We tried to make things work but she refused. She filled for the divorce because of financial difficulties; I was only earning $2083 monthly as a CNA, we were continuing to hope for a better job in my IT field but nothing was forthcoming for almost 2 years and she got discouraged and decided we ended the marriage because she can’t be in a marriage where she can’t afford all she wants, go on vacations, have a better apartment, etc. Yes; we were interviewed before my green card was approved, and it was approved right when we were still in USCIS parking lot entering car to start going home after the interview. Thank you very much for all these insights and guidance

@leslyn Waldron I filed hard copy so I don’t see the document section under my online account. I have tried to look for it multiple times but no document section.
