I am not an lawyer, this is not legal advice. : now you have to wait either for the approval without an interview, a request of evidence, or an interview for the decision. if you want to naturalize, it’s 5 years of permanent residency(from the date of approval of your conditional permanent residence approval, plus the I-751 has to be approved). or 3 years provided that you are and that you can provide evidence that you are still in union(marriage) with the petitioner. you can apply for naturalization while you’re I-751 is pending, but you’re naturalization will be approved after the I-751 is approved(you might have a so-called combo-interview (I-751+N-400), but also there is no guarantee with the immigration service). arm yourself with patience.:)

when you go for combo interview for I 751 and N 400, if approve will you get 10 gc and citizenship together?

if they approve both at the same time, no.

depending on location and availability(if you’re lucky), you might get a same day oath ceremony and you walk out of the building with your naturalization certificate. as a requirement for naturalization you have to surrender your gc(whether it is a 2y or 10y)

approved I-751(also I-751waiver in some cases) is one of the prerequisites and a conditions/requirements for naturalization if you are applying as a marriage based applicant. If you’re application gets approved for naturalization you surrender your valid gc, expired gc w extension letter and approved I-751, or an expired 10y gc w the I-90 at the oath ceremony. not a lawyer *, not legal advice***

I’m confused. I have only applied for I-751. did I have to apply for the N-400 as well? if not, when do I apply for N-400 after the I-751 is approved?
N NAug 3, 2023
you can apply for N-400 while your I-751 is pending, the earliest you can file is 3 years after your conditional permanent resident status was granted(granted you have to be in the marriage/union and have to provide evidence). however, the N-400 can’t be approved without the I-751 being approved.
