I 485 mailed for renewal
hey guys has anyone else mailed in a form I485 for EAD card renewal while your green card case is pending? I mailed in mine but it’s been more than a month and I haven’t received a receipt from Uscis. Is this normal? I even emailed their lockbox email but I haven’t had any reply yet.

It is normal! I just submitted an EAD renewal with a pending i485 and had to wait much longer for the receipt to arrive in the mail than the first time. My renewal application was mailed on Jan 11 and receipt was issued on Feb 22. So don’t worry the receipt is coming!!

note that if you file for the renewal online you get the receipt notice immediately. I was so worried about not getting the receipt notice with the 180 day automatic extension of my current work permit that I was thinking of filing for the renewal online as a separate application just to have the receipt for my employer. Luckily my receipt arrived before my current EAD expired but if yours is expiring and you need it ASAP this is a last resort option for you. You will have two separate work permit applications this way so it will probably complicate things for the EAD renewal but if your goal is just to have a receipt notice while waiting for a decision on your i485 that you think will happen soon anyway, it will not matter much because both EAD cases will be just closed once the green card is issued to you

@e c I am not aware that I-765 can be filed online for pending I-485. My understanding that I-765 can be file online for only OPT and STEM extension.
