a document valid for reentry. can speak of experiences just not mine. but I will share with you. so it comes in two forms. one it can be on your work permit and it will say valid for re entry or a piece of paper with the photo you took at your biometrics appointment. you can go home and on your way back to the states you hand it to the immigration officer along with your passport (if they ask for it). that’s pretty much it. you should have an expiration date on the document. so the experiences are my 3 cousins lol. they went home and all came back, one said the officer handed him back the document (I-131) and said “welcome home” the other one said he handed it to them and they checked it like they would check any other id and said “welcome back, and all the best) and that was it. they told me and the 3rd cousin because she was afraid to travel with hers. their lawyer also told them as long as you’re not involved in any criminal activities you shouldn’t be scared to travel on it because that’s what you got it for. they have been home 4 times this year already and planning to go back Christmas. the 1st cousin I mentioned got his GC interview while he was in Jamaica the last time and he went to the interview after he came back to the states and got his GC right then and there. hope this helps. I know it isn’t my experience but I still wanted to share cause I know how you feel, I felt the same way.
