I-130 with Subsequent I-129F (K-3) Petition
I’m curious to hear from anyone else currently pursuing, (or who recently pursued) a K-3 alongside a pending I-130 for a spouse. I filed an I-130 for my wife, a Mexican citizen currently residing in Mexico, on June 30, 2026. While the I-130 remained pending, I subsequently filed Form I-129F for K-3 classification. My K-3 timeline so far: 08/26/2026 — USCIS received the I-129F 08/31/2026 — I-129F accepted and receipt number issued 09/04/2026 — Physical I-797C receipt notice received by mail The I-129F was assigned to the SCOPS Texas Facility and is currently pending. I understand that K-3 visas are relatively uncommon today and that if the I-130 reaches NVC first, the K-3 may ultimately become unnecessary. I nevertheless decided to pursue both available processes and see which petition progresses first. For anyone with recent K-3 experience: How long did your I-129F remain at “Case Was Received” before the next update? Did the I-129F or I-130 move first? If your I-129F was approved, did it actually reach NVC before the I-130? I’ll update this post as both cases progress. Hopefully my timeline can also provide another recent data point for other K-3 filers.
