I-130 Approved but mistakenly send to NVC for Visa Processing.
Hi family.
I filled my 130 and 485 concurrently. was called in for an interview and after 3 days. 130 was approved. I expected to see an update on 485 but nothing. later, I saw my 130 was forwarded to NVC for visa processing. I am adjusting status from the USA and even did an in person interview in May 2025. I do not need to have any process with visa center but have USCIS do all the process.
has anyone gone though this same issue. The frustration behind this immigration stuff never seem to end. đđ„Č

It looks like what happened in that post is a common administrative error where USCIS, instead of keeping the approved I-130 with the pending I-485 for Adjustment of Status, mistakenly forwarded it to the National Visa Center (NVC) for consular processing.
Since you are adjusting status inside the U.S. and has already attended an in-person interview, you donât need to go through NVC at allâthe I-130 approval should have stayed with USCIS so that the I-485 could be adjudicated. When the I-130 gets sent to NVC, it creates a disconnect: the I-485 sits without final action because the underlying petition appears to USCIS as âcompleted and sent away.â
The fix is to contact USCIS right awayâthrough an online inquiry, phone call to Tier 2, or by submitting a written requestâexplaining that they are adjusting status in the U.S. and requesting that the I-130 be ârecalledâ from NVC and linked back to their I-485 file. Sometimes, congressional assistance can speed this up because USCIS will respond faster to inquiries from a senator or representative.
If NVC has already received the petition, the person should also contact NVC (via their public inquiry form) to confirm they will send it back to USCIS upon request. Once the petition is returned, USCIS can move forward with final adjudication of the I-485.
This mistake is frustrating, but itâs fixableâmany people have had their cases corrected this way and received their green cards once USCIS linked the files again.
