RFE was a second medical exam. First one was submitted with i485 in 2023

Waiting over a year after an interview and RFE response is definitely outside the norm, but unfortunately it lines up with what's happening right now with asylum-based adjustment cases specifically. Since late 2025, USCIS has paused final decisions on asylum applications, and that pause has a spillover effect on asylum-based I-485 cases as well. On top of that, USCIS is conducting enhanced vetting and re-review of cases tied to asylum, which means files are being held for additional security checks or supervisory review before a final decision is issued. At this point I'd recommend filing a service request and maybe contacting your congressman's office for an inquiry. If things don't move, a mandamus action is worth considering. Cases like this sometimes only move once outside pressure is applied.
