hmmm, very dicey. Thinking positively, if he's a down to earth person that won't turn abusive...say VAWA doesn't work out...he can file paperwork for you and you can keep building your future together. But if you don't have legal status it might be impossible/ harder to be approved for the mortgage for a house(get your green card at least). TBH it's not safe to buy a home with a boyfriend... it's not impossible but there's so much at risk here. You might even get taken advantage off. Even married people divorce and have to liquidate properties, give up houses. That won't be your case but thread with caution, err on the side of safety and don't invite more trouble for yourself.

@bless Emma yes you can buy house 100% sure. the only questions is if VAWA get denied or rejected then it will be hard to pay the mortgages and keep up the legal status. if you have answers or back up for this questions then buying a house is not a bad idea.

guys, I think you misunderstood @bless Emma , she said CO SIGN and not buying it with him. those are two separate things! ownership is for whose name is on the deed while co sign is actually for default purposes. so if her BF wants to co sign, it’s actually a good thing in her favor.

@restoration 2021 Stop discouraging people. If he or she has the financial capacity to buy a house, that’s perfectly fine. Many people purchase homes with work permits.
