@waiting time…unless you have recordings of the abuse (text, voicemail, neighbors testimonies, police reports and otherwise ) it’s hard to prove emotional and psychological trauma without a psychological evaluation

VAWA adjudication manual says any credible evidence, this evidence can be victims own sworn self declaration. There is probably no harm in trying looks like if one keeps looking for reviews to boost their confidence in applying for VAWA under certain circumstances someone might just throw them off from applying. as a victim you know your situation and country conditions better. Apply if you have the opportunity to. situations vary from.

I applied without psychological evaluation and had no pictures of the injuries or the violence(phone was stollen had no backup as i had no idea i will be needing them for evidences as at then) and I got approved, I guess it depends on your writing skills and tour lawyer filling for you

not yet, still waiting for an update, it's been 5mths my vawa was approved, filed in November 2019

@ Olayinka S, Thank you for giving me the hope, I relocated back to my home country and then recently got to know about VAWA since my wife has refused to file for a divorce when I refused to come back illegally when she asked me to instead of filing i130 for me. it’s been 8 years since I have been back in my home country so I lost all text messages, but I gave good details of everything and even gave them country conditions on mental health care in my home country reason why I couldn’t get any psychological evaluation and I couldn’t even tell all that she was doing was an abuse. I am very optimistic I will win my case because it was very detailed about 15 pages. did you ever receive RFE?

yes make sure you detail everything so much that the officer reading your affidavit will feel as if he/she is watching the whole thing play right in front of their eyes, also get police clearance from your ur home country, get all your documentation lease, joint insurance etc and get a good lawyer that knows about VAWA, that will also help your case more

I did receive RFE Nov 2021 after 2 yrs then I responded to it Feb 2022, den got approved may 2022 and 3 prima facie

@ Olayinka S what was the RFE about? well I already applied without a lawyer because lawyers are quite expensive and my financial capabilities will not allow me. but I did put every detailed document like the police clearance and other few documents that prove co habitation and also money transfer receipts when I came to my home country. she writes my last name.

they were just picking a whole lot of stuff, my credibility, Bona fide marriage , phone conversation script with my abuser(cos he is incarcerated)etc so I responded to the best of my knowledge with the guidance and counsel of my lawyer and to God be the glory
