Guidance needed on upcoming job and travel
I recently received a job offer in the United States. As part of the role, I am required to participate in a secondment program in Europe for four weeks in March.
My current Refugee Travel Document (RTD) expires in February, and applying for a new one typically takes over 13 months for approval. At this time, I have not yet received my green card and have not applied for a new travel document.
I am from one of the countries under the partial travel ban.
Given these circumstances, I am unsure how to proceed and would appreciate advice on the available options and next steps.

@Oliver Farm Hi, I’m in a similar situation. Did you travel with an RTD during this period?

@Oliver Farm Mine expires in June 2026, and I have plans in August, but I can’t apply for a new one until this one expires. In any case, is it okay to travel outside the U.S. without a green card?

@Oliver Farm your only hope is to apply for RTD right now with all the expedite documents added to the packet. when it gets received call and ask for expedite and mention you've sent the proofs in the package. expedites are not getting appoved these days but that's your best bet

no @G S no you can’t live the US with no green card or RTD. your asylum will be termed abandon. you can apply for a new RTD upto 6 months before the expiration of the old one. some people apply after receiving a new RTD as processing times are longer than 13months. @Oliver Farm I will advise you to apply for RTD with expedite request documents. once you receive a receipt you call USCIS to expedite your RTD

@Immigration Guy @sarah heips thank you for your réponse. I just spoke with a lawyer now who told me the partial ban took effect yesterday and that if I file for expedition of rtd, it will be on hold until the ban is lifted. it’s a tight situation to be in
