Green card on hand in 7 months.
hi! just wanted to make a post about something since I've read about this a lot. I'm married to a US citizen and we did NOT hire a lawyer to do our papers. we did all the papers by ourselves while working full time so the only time we had was at night after dinner. We have never gotten any RFE and there were no mistakes on the application. i was approved the same day as my interview after not even 7 full months of sending my papers. This to say that you DON'T necessarily need a lawyer. My husband and I were not experts and we still did it ourselves and it wasn't that stressing. if you don't feel safe doing it yourself, definitely hire a lawyer. if you have a complicated case, hire a lawyer. But don't believe all the people that tell you that you need a lawyer so the process will go faster etc. My friend filed exactly when I filed, with a lawyer. She doesn't even have an appointment for her interview and she's gotten 2 RFEs. when i started this process everybody told me hire a lawyer, it's too hard otherwise, or it will go slower without a lawyer, etc. We saved a lot of money, we didn't get stressed out with our papers and it didn't take that long and we were approved in less than 7 months.
good luck to whoever is still in the process!

which service center ? could you share your timeline ?

I second this. I went from being a DACA recipient to to a green card holder. I never used a lawyer, and I did all the paperwork myself. Haven’t received an RFE yet. I always make sure I provide all documents and I triple check everything.

like what @R C said, if you don’t have complicated situation Don’t hire a lawyer. just follow what the instructions says. to avoid RFE, just include all the evidence you got. or watch some bloggers about same form you are going to file in USCIS. based on their experiences, how they prepare it and requirements that they include. like what I said send all the evidence you got…
R COct 17, 2021
@gen christian you're right , i included a LOT of evidence, i sent 100 pictures and we do had all joint bank accounts, health insurance, mortgage, bills, car insurance, hotel reservations , vacation together, literally everything we had! the agent at the interview said we had tons of proofs and he didn't have doubts! I suggest including as much evidence as you guys can and follow ALL the instructions, everything is explained well on USCIS!

you’re right @R C. that’s what I did too.

@RC were you asked for proof of COVID VACCINATION? I overheard starting from October 1, you ought to be vaccinated for your green card. how true is that ?
R COct 17, 2021
I wasn't asked for any proof of vaccination at all even though I'm fully vaccinated. i did my medical the week of September 20th and at that time you didn't need your COVID vaccine yet, the doctor told me that starting October 1st the COVID vaccine was going to be mandatory! so i think it's true, you do need the vaccine.
