@Rakieta Sawadogo No RFE. I included everything (including medical) in one filing when I applied for I-485 in August 2022.

@E Hopeful the medical should only good for a year, how come they didn’t ask for another RFE for medical? that a good news anyway, my family I-485 receipt dated March 2023, we included all the medical, it almost a year, I don’t know if they will ask for another medical because my lawyer said it’s only good for a year.

Medical is now valid for at least 2 years.

@sam k Yes, you will be notified via case update. Sometime you’ll just see it in a mail and then the next day they update the case status. You can get it end of this week or sometime next week, but give it two weeks max.

The card should be waiting for you in the mailbox today. It often takes 2-3 days after that notification, but you will get another one with the tracking number once the card is already delivered. They do it for security reasons to avoid any interception from unknown parties. You won’t even see it through your USPS informed delivery notifications until the actual day of the said delivery.

Hi @E Hopeful my status also changed to card was mailed. So I should expect the card to be delivered in few days. I hope it won't be stucked in USPS processing facilities this time. By the way I never received the approval notice which live Agent confirmed that it was sent on Feb 26. I suspect it could be impacted by the overhaul in USPS. I have already raised enquiry request for undelivered notice letter. Is there any other thing I have to do?

@Job Sem You should get it via mail since you already reached out to USCIS or you can message USCIs via your online account if you have any. But you should not really worry about it now that you have your green card in your possession. That’s what matters. An approval letter is just what I call a precursor to the physical green card and does not carry more value that your GC. But if you still need it for your records (which you should), please continue to follow up with USCIS. Unfortunately, I don’t do Reddit. Your journey has started as a green card holder and your card has been backdated to one year from the date of the green card adjudication, meaning that you have been a permanent resident since March 7, 2023. Now you just have to wait 4 more years than then you should be off to getting your US passport. Remember, you should not get in trouble with the law (No DUIs, or crimes of moral turpitudes, etc.). Also, pay your taxes and do not take trips outside of the US for more than 6 months to avoid breaking your continuous physical presence requirement in the US unless you have an approved re-enter permit, which pretty allows you to be outside of the US for more than a year (but not more than 2) without abondoning your residency status in the US. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the detailed explaination @E Hopeful . I appreciate you as always. I know atleast one person who applied for citizenship counting 5 yrs from the date he was granted asylum. He is USC now. what do you think to follow that way? I apologize if this topic was already discussed.

@Job Sem it is 5 years in total from the date you start your residence. But you only have to wait 4 years from now since your card is backdated to one year. So that counts toward that. Have a great day !!!
