don’t worry if you already have your vawa approved your greencard is almost automatic. review your i-485 they’ll definitely ask the yes/no questions, also make sure to answer truthfully ( every worked without authorization, arrested, overstayed your visa etc) lying to them will get your GC denied. if you had previously written no to working or arrested etc make sure to let the IO know you have some amendments to make. also if you have ever been arrested or cited for traffic violation carry your court disposition to show that case is now closed, if you are now divorced and had not included the divorce decree with the application carry copies as well and if you are not divorced and still living with your abusive spouse be ready to answer why. They’ll confirm your identity ( carry a DL, state ID and your passport even if it’s expired). You can take a lawyer if you wish but I’ve been reading some people haven’t and are getting approved same day or couple of days later. it depends on your immigration journey though. if you’ve ever been in removal proceedings they’ll also ask you about that. It’s not as daunting as it sounds. Best of luck.

your VAWA was approved in 1 year? did you do a expedited?
Elliott SDOct 17, 2025
I’ll definitely leave a detailed description of my interview and questions asked . it was yes and no does help but I get that people that are going through this process want to know everything. That’s the least I can do . I’ll leave my comment here on the 20th of November.

PROCEDURE TO EXPECT at the Interview:
Plan for the day. Plan to get to USCIS early. You will have to get through security in the front of the building. This takes time. Be in line to get to the building at least 45 minutes prior to your interview. There are plenty of open parking lots in the area, Plan to be in the lobby area of the room where you are to be interviewed at least 30 minutes prior to your interview.
Dress appropriately. No jeans or T-shirts. Show respect for the officer interviewing you; every little bit helps. No suits, just business casual is fine.
You may bring a cell phone and something to read.
Do not change any habits that you have that time of day (i.e., if you eat breakfast and have a gallon of coffee, still do this. It is normal to be nervous; nervous with a caffeine headache and an empty stomach
is worse!).
Try to get some sleep the night before.
In the lobby, an officer will take your photo and your fingerprints
When called from the lobby area by a USCIS officer, you will proceed to the private office of an office and will put you under oath to tell the truth before the interview starts. Then the officer will start asking you for documents …
