I filed an I-130 petition for my foreign spouse in 2022. I just received a notice in November 2025 saying that an interview has been scheduled for me as the petitioner. I thought the I-130 is usually approved first and then sent to the NVC for my spouse abroad. Is it normal for USCIS to interview the petitioner directly? I also read online that this might speed up the process so that my spouse may not have to go through a long wait before coming to the U.S. Is that true?

Yes, I was called for an interview for January 2026, from research I guess they wanna confirm if my marriage was real before approval, but it was later cancelled on December 2025 due to trump ban
