It turns out that my green card expired in 2020 and I received an extension letter for 48 months that expired last month and I applied for citizenship and when I applied it a letter of receipt of the request arrived and also says that it is a 24-month extension. But, it says it's from the expiration date, so my question is if this new letter really serves as an extension of the one that expired last month and if it is used together with the previous letter and the green card, could it leave the country and return quietly?

I think they send you that extension since the previous one is already expired so that way your status stain remain in case you need to travel and also you need to have something that is not expired until you recieve the interview for the N400
