Got my GC after 17 years in the US
2005 - Came to the US with B2 Visa, applied for asylum 2006 - USCIS intended to deny, case moved to court 2013 - After multiple hearings, judge granted me PD 2018 - Met my boyfriend and got married 8 months later 2019 - Hired an attorney, filed 130 (Texas Center) 2021 - Attorney contacted ombudsman and got 130 approved after 2 years waiting without interview 2021/09 - Removal proceeding terminated by court 2021/09 - 485 filed at National Benefit Center 2022/01 - RFE for birth certificate (submitted online) 2022/03 - Interview scheduled 2022/05 - Interviewed at Los Angeles FO, very nice officer, only went through info on 485 form, gave verbal approval on the spot 2022/05/10 - USCIS approval email came next day after the interview. 17 years in the country, I never give up. I finished my AA degree and will be granduating in summer 2023 with my BA. Earned my VP title at work in 2019. Holding serveral FINRA licenses and have my CFP exam schedule this July. All I want to say is don't give up, no matter how hard it is.

@ E L how did they terminate the Removal Proceeding by court?? did you file anything for that? or wrote a letter ? or as soon as you get I130 approved, it automatically terminated by court?
E LMay 11, 2022
@skc kc My attorney filed a joint motion to the court after the 130 is approved. DHS agreed the termination so the judge granted it. It's not automatic.

@ E L I was in removal proceedings since Nov , 2013. but no court date, no deportation order. I mentioned that on I 485 page. I just got approved GC last week. Do I still need to file a motion to terminate my removal proceedings even though I have GC now??

congratulations. I have a similar case. I have an I-130 approved, now I am seeking to terminate the removal proceedings in the court. how long it takes after asking the court to terminate the proceedings for it to be terminated? how that process works?
E LMay 13, 2022
@Abdou Yes My attorney filed a joint motion to the court. About 40 days after that, DHS agreed to terminate the case, in about another 20 days, the judge granted it. So it's 60 days for me to get the removal proceeding terminated. I'm in Los Angeles. Good luck.

@E L I have ask my lawyer to file joint motion to terminate removal proceedings, she told me I don’t require to file it. if I am still in removal proceedings, then they wouldn’t approve my GC and also there would be an issue filing AOS. “If DHS issued the order of removal, the removal order is deemed cancelled by operation of law upon approval of the U visa petition.” since I am a u visa holder and once u visa is approved, the removal order is deemed cancel by operation of law. I am not still not sure about this. I call the 1-800 no. to check if I am still in removal proceedings by entering my A#######. it says record not on file.

@skc kc trust your attorney, if in doubt, ask another attorney for second opinion. Best of luck!
