you don’t, but good to include. when you use premium processing, they will send you an email. the G1145 is very helpful for non-premium to receive the case number via text before the i797C comes in the mail (I know someone who never received the notice and didn’t file G1145, took almost 4 months just to get the case number from USCIS).

@T. G., 4 months? Was the person given a reason for such delay?

@Rijo Rijo no reason at all. USCIS do not care about anybody except for their fees. he went back and front and the agents were always telling him they couldn’t find a case in his name after his money order was cashed. it was one agent that later helped him figure it out after MONTHS.
