Financial sponsor
My wife is a US citizen and I'm her husband seeking a marriage green card. My wife does not meet the income requirements for a green card and neither do i. I read a form saying my wife's household member can be a sponsor if we don't meet the requirements. Is it possible for my wife's father in law (my father) to become a sponsor, provided that he is NOT a US citizen or a green card holder. Thanks!

I think it’s better to have a citizen or GC holder as a sponsor.

@y. martial what if I'm unable to find a sponsor who is a citizen or GC holder. Can a non US citizen or GC holder not be my financial sponsor? (that sponsor does not reside in America)

If your father is not a US citizen or Green Card holder, I don’t think he can be a financial sponsor.

He definitely needs to bvb e a GC holder or a citizen..... they will ask for his documents which also includes birth certificate if he was born here or naturalization certificate if he wasn't ...
