FINALLY APPROVED
I can’t believe I’m now one of the people that share this part of my journey. almost 5 years, 3 interviews, RFEs, NOID and finally Approved. I waited, I cried, i felt unlucky, I felt depressed, I prayed, God answered. I pray with all my heart that everyone going through this heavy journey one day receives the good news of approval. I have not slept well for days due to excitement. My Story: PD is Jan 2021 Newark, NJ Field Office. first interview was in December 2021. we got no response at all and waited years. we moved to Georgia in March 2022 and updated addresses immediately. no news still so we reached out to the congressman to intervene and was scheduled for an interview in April 2024 but interview was scheduled in NJ despite moving and updating addresses. we flew back to New Jersey to attend the interview hoping to get results as we were tired of the silence. after the expenses of flying to New Jersey, interview was great and we were hoping to hear back but still heard nothing at all. our case was then transferred to the Atlanta Field Office in January 2025 and we were scheduled for another interview in February of 2025. We attended our interview and it was great. interviewing office was great and we were convinced he’s a professional that would work on the case in a timely manner. in March, we received a Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID)for i130, which said they didn’t have enough evidence of genuine marriage despite us taking damn near a suitcase of evidence to the interview. we responded to the NOID a few days after we received it and on a random Saturday, we were approved. it’s easy to summarize it but the emotions were not easy to deal with. I pray for everyone on their journey to receive the answers they have been praying for. Also, thank you to this community. I hardly left comments as I always came here in tears to read peoples progress and hope for mine. God is so faithful.

@s l thank you! for the documents, I submitted everything we took to the interview. copies of IDs showing same address, joint bank account statements for all the years, including debit cards, affidavits of support for friends, tax returns, health insurance, phone bills, hospital visits. in no particular order or importance, I submitted everything that had both our names on it. nothing is too much to submit as long as it’s to help justify our case. in the beginning of the process, we had a lawyer who wasn’t doing a good job and he didn’t show up on the day of our 1st interview. since then, we continued the process without a lawyer.

@Annabel Jean Congratulations Annabel. We have similar timelines. My PD is Feb 2021. I got NOID in Dec 2023, I responded immediately within three weeks. I received RFE medical for my I485 in March 2025 which I have responded to while My I-130 is still pending. I thought was supposed to get my I130 approved before by now before I received the RFE on my I485. I can’t wait to get done too for real. Sick and tired of the long process. Congratulations once again!!!

@kapi patience Congratulations to you too. It’s a good feeling seeing old cases getting approved.

@Rooney Ron I totally understand. my i130 was getting any progress at all just the i485. I also received RFEs for i485. the NOID I received was for i130. eventually the i130 had to be approved first. yes I’m glad old cases are getting results. it was very frustrating to hardly see people with similar timelines as me. with how I almost lost hope, don’t worry it’s coming. also, did you get your congressman involved? I think it helped every time they were getting notified by them.
Rooney RonJun 12, 2025
@Annabel Jean Sure, I got the Congress involved before I was issued the NOID on my I130 in Dec 2023. My case was abandoned two years prior to Congress inquiry. My I130 is still pending since I replied the NOID in Jan 2024. I was surprised when I got the RFE for medical on my I-485 in March this year when my I130 is still pending because I know it supersedes I485. I can only cross my legs and watch how it goes. I trust in God!

@Rooney Ron keep connecting to the person you were assigned to at the congressman’s office. I was reaching out from time to time and she kept sending service requests when we heard nothing back periodically.

@Annabel Jean congrats. my case is so similar to yours. i130 was filed in Oct 2022. we were scheduled for interview in Feb 2025. all went well but I got a NOID that evidence is not enough. we are low on cash and want to respond to the NOID with out a lawyer. Any tips and guidelines will be extremely appreciated. 🙏🏽

@crimson neon we responded to the NOID and the entire case without a lawyer. provide every single evidence in a orderly manner and don’t worry about how much documents you put together. I sent a whole box. I got paper folders and put them in the order of date from when we got married and I labeled them with a sticky note to make it easy for the officer to go through and not miss things. for instance. 1. leases 2020-2025 2.monthly joint Bank statement (2020-2025) 3. Auto insurance 2025-2025 4. health insurance 2020-2025 5. Utilities (electricity, heat, gas, WiFi,) 2020-2025. 6. photo album 7. notarized letter Affidavit of support from friends and family I also added copies of our IDs which showed same address as well as front copies of our joint bank debit cards. I submitted even evidence I had submitted before including new evidence. I hope this helps. let me know if you have anymore questions. wishing you success

@Annabel Jean Thank you 🙏🏿 thank you so much from the bottom of my ❤️ heart . I really appreciate you for responding. Your response means a lot to me. Will it be ok to submit it through the online USCIS portal or by mail? and also did you add a cover letter ? and how long did it take for them to approve after the response was sent? Thank you 🙏🏿

@crimson neon I submitted through mail which I also recommend. so you can add as much documents and pages without hesitation. you’ll hardly be able to upload all that information through the online portal because each page has to be uploaded individually. also, sending in the mail makes it easier for you to arrange it in a way that’s easily understandable for the reviewing officer like I mentioned above to use small folders and sticky notes. I also like that when I send through the mail, you have a tracking number and see that it was signed for. if it was just a simple rfe like medicals or easy stuff then I’ll say upload. but giving them history from 2022-2025 would be alot of evidence to just upload

@Annabel Jean Thanks 🙏🏽 once again. well appreciated

@crimson neon we added a cover left explaining the order in which we arranged and also explaining that we brought the evidence to the interview and interviewing officer uploaded them but there might have been an error why they don’t seem to have it. it took them a month and a week after it was delivered to update that it was received. one month after we were approved. so a total of two months after we sent the evidence

@Annabel Jean also if I have an original document I need to show as evidence, do I just make a photocopy and include in the response or should I add the original ? Thank you
A
Annabel JeanJul 9, 2025
@crimson neon I didn’t send original documents. everything should be print outs or copies
