field office processing time disappeared
go to links below , select 485 and employment based from the drop down. you will not be able to see any field offices in the third drop down . this was visible earlier but now
“ all field offices “ shows up as a option and currently the processing time for 80% applications is 12.5 months .
Q1. does this mean field offices with huge backlogs will get priority ?
Q2. does this mean we all should expect 12.5 months for approvals ie longer processing times ?
any information / intel here will be helpful .

oh yeah, I see it ..

q1 answer is yes and I was told this by an immigration officer supervisor. after pre processing is completed at national benefits center they will either send your case to your field office or the office with the best availability depending on wether you need an interview or not

That is actually a good news for us. Dallas FO previously was showing 27.5 Months now it is 12 months. My PD is sep 2021. I will try to expedite it, if not successful I will file writ of mandamus since it’s already way above processing times!

@Amin Goretz My Priority date is April 2022. can i do that same as yours?
S NMar 4, 2025
National Benefit Center (NBC) is not listed, how can we check processing time for it?
S NMar 4, 2025
@Amin Goretz - what is your case receipt date, processing time is calculated based on that, not PD
gogo GagaMar 4, 2025
@first last these latest processing times seem good in a way, Isn’t? Although NBC was never listed as one of the dropdown options as Service location, USCIS chat agents always referred to the city on our postal address as the hypothetical field office for all NBC applications, something I never understood on the purpose of having NBC undercover. If 12.5 implies to all field offices then assuming same applies to NBC.
P NMar 4, 2025
this is not at all useful. people waiting for almost double the time shown and also NBC which is the black box is never shown. using local FO for NBC is misleading and doesn't help either
S NMar 4, 2025
thanks @S N , yes it looks to be a good news, hope it stays the same or lesser time

consider that USCIS calculates your processing time based on your field office when it comes to I-485 adjudication not NBC. in other words, you could inquiry about your application +12.5 months after your filing date .
a a a bananaMar 5, 2025
national benefits center is only in charge for bypassing applications and completing pre-processing such as reviving Medicals, confirming the background check with FBI and once that is completed it can move to the adjucation stage which often happens at the field offices. Although, NBC also has jurisdiction to adjudicate the I-485s.

@S N in a way, it's good as it will allow us to enquire after 12.5 months. I am not sure, however, how much I can trust this timeline.
S NMar 5, 2025
@first last - very true, lets hope it dont change or increase the time, as you said we can enquire about our case sooner
gogo GagaMar 5, 2025
I rechecked the processing times today. This doesn’t seem accurate to me. My receipt date is 1st August 2024, on checking the earliest date that I can inquire, I get “August 27th, 2026”. But 12.5 months from August 2024 should be some date in August “2025”.The calculation to get inquiry date doesn’t match with the 12.5months processing time that is indicated for all field offices.
Fried CauliflowerMar 5, 2025
let’s assume that NBC is processed the application and no interview required does it still need to be transferred to FO , if so, how much it took for the cases that not required interview and approved at NBC how much it took once nbc transfer the file to FO?
S NMar 5, 2025
@gogo Gaga - yes even i observed this, looks like there is a calculation process , details here - https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/more-info
battling giantsMar 5, 2025
@Fried Cauliflower FO usually gives the decision regardless of whether interview is required or not . NBC gives decision but rarely .
battling giantsMar 5, 2025
@gogo Gaga Case Inquiry Date = [time to complete 93% of adjudicated cases] – [today’s date – receipt date]. so august 2026 is when 93% of cases will be completed
P NMar 6, 2025
These timelines are there to just keep you engaged. some get approved in months and some wait for years. so it all depends on how lucky you are
Jenn TMar 6, 2025
in the processing time webpage, I only see the range of processing 80% of cases. how can we see the processing time for 93% of cases as in the formula?
KungFu Panda Mar 7, 2025
NBC is fucked up, I don't know why.
