Field office difference
Hello everyone, I’m experiencing a strange situation with my I-485 AOS case and wanted to see if anyone has had a similar experience. A few weeks ago, I chatted with an Emma live agent and was told that my case had been transferred to the San Bernardino Field Office. Today I contacted Emma again to ask roughly when the transfer happened so I could estimate processing time. However, after I provided my receipt information, the agent told me that my case is actually at the Omaha Field Office, and the chat disconnected before I could confirm anything. Now I’m confused about where my case actually is. For context: • EB-2 NIW category • I-485 filed in late October 2025 • Priority date early 2024 • Biometrics completed at Omaha field office • one hidden update in January 2026 and no updates since Has anyone experienced conflicting information from Emma agents about the field office handling their case? Thanks!

I would ask again with a different agent. if they confirm Omaha and it's a local for you it might be transferred for an interview.

If Omaha is non local, you should be approved as soon as possible. if not, prepare for interview.

Unfortunatly it is not uncommon for Emma to provide conflicting information regarding the service center processing your case. Typically if your case will be moved USCIS typically sends a notice with this information. If you did not receive one then I would try Emma again to see if you can get more clarification on what service center your case is currently sitting. With an AOS filing less than 5months ago, your case is stillw ithin the normal processing time. You should make sure your address is current with USCIS to avoid missing any communications. - Attorney MaryJoy Chuba (All information shared here is for general educational purposes only.
