Elections Affecting Immigration
I feel devastated, anxious, worried after seeing the results from the election. Cases are getting approved slower each day, and less and less people’s cases get accepted, so can’t quite picture how will this government improve that. It’s so hard been waiting for a long time, play by the rules, have kinda figured out the plan to follow, and almost be able to touch the end line, when the rules of the game change. In my case my I-130 hasnt even been approved yet, and I know my husband and I still have a long way to go, but it is during this waiting time that we figure out the requirements we need to have in hand for the steps ahead. One of the main requirements is having a sponsor. My husband is a disabled veteran and because of that he doesnt make the enough taxable money to sponsor me. This means I had to find another person that made the enough supporting money. I am very lucky to have my mother in law offered to be my sponsor. Currently this is the plan if everything flows smoothly. What worries me the most is that the new president did his campaign on wanting to modify the law of public charge. He proposed that if the person petitioning for you didn’t make the enough sponsoring money to bring you into the states, you wouldn’t be able to find or add any other co - sponsors, as it is currently allowed, and your case would be dismissed until your petitioner is able to sponsor you. Im not at this step yet, but it is taking so long to approve my I-130 that I feel that by the time I make it to NVC and have to do the 6 steps, this modification will already be in full action. It would absolutely destroy my family if our case was dismissed after such a long wait for the approval, while being apart, and all because we were not able to add a different sponsor that made the enough money. How many of you guys would be in a situation like this? How are you dealing with the stress of what other changes will he be making to the process? Who else feels almost there and when you get almost to the goal it gets pushed further? What a time to be in a migration process 😣

@Theo Brian I’m hoping that too. I believe after you pay the NVC fees and get DQ you should be some sort of safe regardless if he helps or affects 🤷🏼‍♀️ and then just waiting for the interview

I am so worried what is going to happen to all of us who are stuck in the system.

Have peace… based on your PD you will be approved any day now. then you can move to the next phase. Trump takes office at the end of January. It takes time to make changes…. IF he makes any changes to legal immigration. All will be well for you….@Carolaine C

God willing you will be approved before that happens because of your time frame 🤞🏼🤞🏼 I am barely 7 months in. 😰 Fortunately God has the last say for my life. 🙌🏼

@Carolaine C I hope there is no affect on you. I do not feel Trump is anti immigration. To me, it seeems he wants immigrants. He wants them to come legally (which is why we are all on here) and he wants them to contribute to society. This is just my personal opinion. Wishing the best for everyone.

I think migration could be better if you are in a petition based in family after this election, because he said: I'm in favor of legal migration you can come to USA but in legal ways, so at the end I hope USCIS focus their resources as used to be years ago and not only in cases that start in the borders, also professional said that probably they'll ask for more proof of bona fide but I think if you are in a real marriage you are able prove it. mmm that is my personal opinion just trying to find light in this turbulent journey. ♥️

trump is all for legal immagration, the day he is in office is the day all these illegals stop being processed and are pushed away in order for things to speed up again, that’s why it’s taking so long because they are picking the illegals over us, look at how long these i130 visas were taking back when he was in office and when Covid hit trump continued to keep processing the spouse visas because he actually cares about families

idk I'm scared as well, I told my husband to be ready to wait for longer time now .. my case is AOS but anyway, I hope a miracle happens and it gets approved soon but I see every day they’re approving less cases

You’re not in this alone, my case has been sent to the Embassy and is ready for an interview which I’m still waiting. I’m not sure if it will be impacted. Hope for all of here.

@Carolaine C @Jacob Needham I agree with you. If you are a real marriage then those should be the priority. If you have children from another country, a priority. Also, real asylum seekers. I have worked with people who where real asylum seekers. All of the illegal people are making it very hard for people really seeking safety. Anyone on this app who are real (marriages and asylum seekers) should not be worried.

@Carolaine C I am not in this situation but I want to send all words of encouragement. In my humble opinion God reigns supreme. He has this under control for you. The good part is your journey has started already and you are closer to the end. Keep staying positive and calm. God already has it worked out for you and in your favor. Be blessed!

@My P Very well said 🙏

@Kingsley B 100% the legit people don’t have to worry, things should speed up over the next 12 months

@Kingsley B read his proposal on legal immigration; do your research, then decide if it will afect legal immigration.
Kingsley BNov 6, 2024
@E R Hi, I am not trying to be argumentative. What would you suggest I read? I have read many of his proposals but I am open to learning more. I know that some of his ideas, if enforced, would place much more restrictions on immigration. To me, he wants to end the illegal crossing at borders. I support immigration. I am from Canada and Canada has been welcoming to many people.

@Carolaine C keep the faith but I understand ur feelings
Kingsley BNov 6, 2024
@E R I do not support the ending of DACA at all or a ban on people visiting from/getting visas/or getting green cards if they are from certain countries. I do not agree with Trump on everything but I do feel that many of his ideas will not be legalized. I do feel that the influx of people during the Biden administration was also not good. I don’t feel Trump or Harris are great. I want everyone to be treated well and I feel most people on this app are doing things legally and I don’t want them to worry.

@Carolaine C I sincerely hope that the co sponsor requirement is not pushed through and becomes law. It is wrong.
