Dependent also has social security before because she is a student. I am from Nigeria. I think part of the 39 countries.

Their is an hold on adjudication for benefits from persons from the ban countries. This means you won't get a decision on your EAD or I-485 until the hold is lifted. The reason why your wife got hers is because it was approved before the hold in December 2025 the holding policy was implemented in January 2026.

@Dee Barbara ,a review of the ban and possibly being lifted is due by June. let's keep our fingers crossed 🤞 that Nigeria name will be removed from the list by God's grace 🙏 🙏

@hello mark of the wife got hers and they both filed the same time he’s definitely going to get his approval his because we’re hearing that the pause with not necessarily affect EAD card.

This can definitely feel confusing, but it’s actually a normal situation.
USCIS processes each application on its own, even when filed together. So your wife’s EAD being approved and produced does not mean your I-485 or EAD should be approved at the same time.
What it likely means:
Her I-765 was reviewed and cleared first
Your case is still pending final review or background checks
Extra security checks can sometimes take longer for the principal applicant
There’s no set timeline connecting her EAD to your I-485 decision. It can still take a few weeks to a few months depending on processing.
The key point is that nothing here suggests a problem. Your case is still moving, just on its own track.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them in our next Lawfully office hours session!.
