@M I Yes sometimes they will transfer cases for workload balance. When that happens you don’t get a transfer notice. It will continue to be processed at NSC while NBC focuses on your i485. I’m surprised Emma told you about transfer since they usually won’t. That’s why I asked to check location api. I believe it should also show NSC for both forms.

How do people check Emma? I've always wondered. Everytime it's just a chatbot that replies automated stuff. How can I know if my case is actually being worked on or if it was transferred to a FO? Both my i-485 and i-765 have been received March 24th, biometrics on April 17th, no update yet.

@Pray Grateful it only works for IOE cases since they are considered electronic filing. Other types are all considered paper based and only USCIS has internal info on those.

@D 3 You can say things like “I want to know service center of my case”. It will eventually give you the option to connect to Live Agent. Once you do that, a live agent will join chat and ask for your case info. Though they are tier 1 officers and provide limited info.

@M I perfect. In transfers like these, it is intended to have case processed by NSC because NBC didn’t have capacity to meet processing time. So hopefully you get decision soon on ead/ap within normal processing times of nbc.

@M M You need to be logged in to myUSCIS account for this to work. Also it works only for IOE cases. Make sure you put the receipt number in upper case IOE at the end of the URL

@amdsk a I logged into myUSCIS account and I’m IOE, but I don’t see the option of secure messaging. I wrote this link after logging into myUSCIS account, it gave me the message option to expertise my case, is this the API option?

@M M once you are logged in, open a new tab and paste the url I gave. make sure to replace your recipt number. Let me know if that works.

@amdsk a I did, it gave me my inbox. it shows me the option to expedite my case but doesn’t show any information about the field office it’s processing in

@M I Are you able to confirm if you see NULL data for location api for your i485 since that didn’t get transferred from NBC?

@rk kr yeah it would show null if it is still at NBC. I am guessing it would show data once it is transferred to FO. Do you get any data for i765/131?

when was your API last updated for 485?

@amdsk a - I am seeing a null error when I use the api link you shared on this thread for my 485, 765 and 131 but I got a 485 RFE letter from the field office

@black blazer I think I am realizing that it is missing https:// in the front. I would think it doesn’t make a difference. However you do need be sure that you are logged in since it only provides your case info.

@black blazer you would have to copy the link onto your browser and edit {your case} to your receipt number including the letters IOE. mind you IOE is case sensitive.

@Gt Ty - yes tried it multiple times with my receipt number and even my derivative applicants. I am only seeing the null error

@M M It will route to New Messaage url if your api is incorrect. If possible can you put what you are putting in api? you can hide everything after ioe09111 I can then tell you what to correct

@M M I’m hoping at some point location will change to FO. Also @Gt Ty api will also work. make sure you are entering correct. Note that IOE has to be upper case

@amdsk a I called USCIS today and the officer said my case is at San Bernardino field office not local field office. Really frustrated from the live agent who said it’s at the local field office

@M M As long as it is at a field office, it is positive signs for a decision

@rk kr Null means your case is at the service center that matches your receipt notice. If it gets transferred, it should get updated

for my i485, the `my.uscis.gov/secure-messaging/api/case-service/receipt_info` endpoint was not working - it was showing null as well. i didn't bother checking on it daily because of this. however, i had an updatedAt timestamp update last week, and checked today that API, and for location it now shows my local FO. hopefully i will get an answer soon what is interesting is that the subtype shows "131A-HRIFA", when my case is emplyment and not Haitian Refugee Immigrant Fairness Act
