Samuel, When your ex uses your immigration status to threaten, control, or intimidate you, they are:
• Exerting power over you
• Creating fear of deportation or legal consequences
• Using your vulnerability to silence or manipulate you
This is not just emotional abuse — it is psychological and legal abuse, and U.S. immigration law recognizes it.
Under VAWA and immigration regulations, abuse is not limited to physical violence. It also includes:
• Threats of deportation
• Threats to call ICE or immigration authorities
• Withholding or destroying immigration documents
• Refusing to file immigration paperwork as promised
• Lying about your immigration rights to control you

how did you resubmit? did you do a new 1-751 application or you just sent them a letter asking to convert to wavier and then started the divorce process?

I first submitted the 1-751 with the waiver because we were already divorced. But now, I submitted a I-360 for abuse and included the information of this case so they know that I am in this process. Not sure what will happen but I can’t continue to let this man abuse me.
