@Ali Meer hello when did your wife receive SSN?how long after the green card? I didn't also receive it and wondering if I should go to the SSN office?

@sky91 light my case got approved on June 15th. the date on the ssn is june 16th

@Ali Meer how many days passed for you to receive SSN after the green card approval?

dont know when the mail came. I checked the mail today after a week.

@Ali Meer did you not already have a SSN ? Are you supposed to receive a new one after green card? I thought that the SSN is only for those who don’t already have one.

just bring your paper work to the social security office. annoying place to go but they'll get you one of it isn't on route

I went to social security card center (not social security office) with old SSN card, GC, and passport. You can print and fill this form https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf It took about 5 weeks to get the new card with no restrictions.

@Ali Meer I went to the one nearby. No appointment needed. It took 15-20min, but totally depends on how busy they are. The new card was mailed in 6 weeks
