@Annya Rangel my mom waited for almost year. she filed in 2015 and did her interview in Arlington in Feb 2023. She got her response in Feb 2024. At some point, our congresswoman made an inquiry on our behalf and they told her that my mom’s case was under extended review and a few weeks later they responded back. Have you tried to contact your US. representative?

Mostly if USCIS did not respond within 120 days after your interview and did not tell you to pick up response in person within weeks after interview , it might likely be they want to grant the Asylum but you have to go through extended background check which could take months or years, those days they use to issue letter of intent to approve (LOIA) when the background is in progress but they stop LOIA few years back, I will recommend you wait till like 6 or 8 months before reaching out to congress man or USCIS so as not to disturb the USCIS officer handling your case.

I will take it into account since three weeks ago I went to the asylum office to ask, and they told me that the supervisor was working on my case in an extended review. Previously, I had sent emails. I believe it is not a good idea to keep bothering my case officer for now. I will wait for a while. Thank you again!
