Dakar interview
Has anyone been through the K1 visa process in Dakar? We waited 14 months for USCIS petition, another 6 weeks for NVC. We received an email from the Embassy in Dakar at the beginning of April stating they were ready to process the application. Now it has been one month, every day checking no interviews available. I have tried emailing and calling and the only response I get is keep checking the website. Just wondering if anyone has recently gone through this and knows how long we should expect to wait for an interview. #K1 #Dakar #interview

Hello Lu. I have been on various sites for months seeking information on the US Embassy in Dakar. Unfortunately, there is very little information or recent K1 timelines to reference. I just received my NOA 2 last week and was on looking for any mention of Dakar. My fiance is part of a What's App group from Senegal, but that group consists of spouses and their interview availability is different. I am actually part of a FB group for Nigeria (my fiance is Nigerian, but lives in Dakar) and the people in that group have to check the schedule multiple times each day hoping for an open date. I have seen them wait for months. I was truly hoping that Senegal would be better with their interview scheduling, especially since there are very few K1 visa petitions compared to other countries.

Thanks Destiny. We got our NOA in February after waiting on USCIS petition for 14 months. It took the NVC about 6 weeks to send the application to the embassy in Dakar and then another week to get the letter from the embassy that they were ready to process our application. I have checked the website every day and have never seen any appointments available.

That is disappointing. We spent 16.5 months at USCIS (December 2021 NOA1). From other groups, I am learning that there is an additional backlog with USCIS sending petitions to NVC now. People are posting 65 days after NOA2 that they still are without a case number. I am hoping that you have an available interview spot opening soon. Do you know if the medical appointment scheduling is backed up?

Thank you! We actually called some of the clinics they list to see their appointment availability and they said there was no wait to get an appointment but to call back when an interview appointment is available.

Hello @Lu Ndiaye, any updates on getting a K1 interview scheduled in Dakar? I was really hoping that the Dakar embassy was better at scheduling for K1s. 🙏🏽
