Credit card or opening a bank acccount
Hello, I have a question about making a credit card or opening a bank account. I'm a green card applicant waiting for an interview. I recently got my EAD and SSN only for work purposes. I was curious if I could open a bank account or get a credit card to build credit right now. Would it be safer to wait until after my interview? Any advice would help. Thanks in advance.

You’re legally authorized to open an account with any bank in America with your ssn, work authorization card and or driver’s license

Go and open your bank account. You have All you need now, just need a little deposit and it's ok 👍

You can do both at the same time. I suggest you apply for credit card as well so that you can establish credit asap. You can start with a Capital One credit card - even of it’s a secured credit card, you’ll be glad you did later on.

you should absolutely start building your credit as soon as possible! it will help you in the future. check out sable card. they started me on a secured credit card with a credit limit of my choice and graduated me to a regular credit card in five months with a 5k limit. very happy so far
