Conditional Green Card
Hi, i just got my interview scheduled for I-485 based on marriage to a US citizen. I am 4 months short of completing 2 years of marriage. If I get a conditional green card, will the expiry date on it will be 2 years from now or will it be the second anniversary of my marriage? Trying to understand if I will have to wait another 2 years to remove conditions from the green card, which is fine but just more hassle and longer wait period.

u will probably most likely have the permanent based on the length of time of your 2 years anniversary... But it will also depends on when they will schedule your interview( I mean the date). Good luck

mine, they put the date on my gc 4 days after my interview.

my interview was only 2 months before 2 year anniversary - green card was conditional of course

if your interview is in a month ,or two (before the 4 moths) you gonna have conditional.yes after that you will file 751 to remove the conditional

On the USCIS website, it says you can file 751 to remove the conditions 90 days before conditional expires. If say I get my interview approved in February 2022, I am thinking expiry date for conditional will likely be Feb 2024. Does that mean I have to wait till Dec 2023 to file 751 ?

can someone tell me please what was the expiry date on your conditional if you got it few months before your 2 year anniversary?

your gc will expire in 2 years from the moment your gc is issued. you turning 2 years Anniversary has nothing to do with the expiration of ur gc. if you havent been married for 2 years on the dot and you get ur green card before that, it's always gonna be temporary/conditional 2-year-residency. You are able to remove your conditions 4 months before that card expires!

tell me about it🙄! but hold on tight! nothing lasts forever, including our immigration journey! Just make sure you start your removal of conditions process 4 months on the spot. You will still be able to travel out of the country even if the gc expires as long as u had already started the conditions removal! good luck and merry Xmas @california 2021

yes as long as you are married but if you divorced after conditional card you can file 751 anytime.

@ Ana Roberts do u mean to write 3 months instead of 4months? I believe it’s 90 days before the expiration of the conditional GC.

conditional green cards last only for two years. after that you file to remove the conditions then you’ll get a 10 years green card… after that you can file for your citizenship 3years if you stay married 5 years if you get divorced.
