Concern About My Step-Daughter.
As a step-father I am to a minor, age 4 . During the day of my wife and step-daughter interview, will the U.S embassy asked or required her father signature or consent before traveling with her mother to the U. S? I’m a U.S Citizen, her mother and I got married in 2021, when she was only 3 years old. My step-Daughter doesn’t know her and he does nothing for her. My step-daughter considers me as her father.

i’m not sure what country are u referring to.,but if i’m not mistaken in my country in the philippines it’s required, once the biological dad signed the birth certificate when she was born & acknowledge the child, unless ur wife file for abandonment.

it’s not required for US immigration purposes, but certain countries the child is leaving will require it so the parent doesn’t get into trouble as ms Kim states.

If the father's name is not on the birth certificate then there's no problem, however the father have to be aware unless he's been abusive etc. But it's best to consult with an immigration lawyer to be on the safe side. Good luck
