**"Why does the asylum officer keep the original passport and documents during the interview? At my asylum interview in Massachusetts, the officer kept my original passport and supporting documents. Has anyone else experienced this? Does keeping the passport mean a denial? I would really appreciate any guidance or shared experiences. Thank you!"** ---

No, he just made copies to keep and gave you the originals. That doesn't mean you won't be approved.

never gave mine back 2019 up till date. I was approved n now a GC holder I know many people whose original documents were never returned too, it’s just the some officers work. I made a request for mine to be sent back to me but all I was ever given was a black and white photocopy of it.
