Combo card query ??
Hi people
today is a good day for me. my I-765 application got approved today thankfully. I have a query regarding it.
I know I can expect the card in 7 days from the status update but do I have to physically present at the address to receive it or sign something for the postal service or is it would be delivered like any other normal mail to my mail box without requiring my presence ?
in case it does , can my wife receive it on my behalf or it has to be me? PS: I am asking all these questions because I’m temporarily in a different state for job interviews.
2nd: can one travel on a combo card as soon as one receives it or it’s better to wait ? I haven’t visited my home for almost an year.

It will be delivered like any other mail..in my state I didn’t see the mail guy,I just tracked it and that was it

it will be delivered to your mailbox no signature needed 👍
yes you can travel, as long as there are no mistakes or misspelled named on it and your are traveling within validation period.

how do you find out the tracking info? mine was approved 6 days ago (but there was Memorial Day holiday and weekend so I’m expecting it to take longer than 7 days)

it's always a first class mail...you will get it in 3 days after USPS picks it up from USCIS office

@AK I don’t have a tracking information. 7 is just the average number I learnt from the people in the group who were sharing their experiences in the similar situation.

Thankyou for answering. can you guys also guide what’s the procedure to apply for SSN after getting the card ?
my job offer starts on July 1st and I have to fill out the paperwork asap that requires SSN ?
does it come along with , after it or I have to go to a social security office to apply and again do I have to physically present in the office to do so or I can apply from a state different from our permanent address?

Sometimes it comes with it,but some too don’t receive their EAD’s with their SSN..if you don’t you fill out the forms online and go to the nearest Social security office and you would receive it in about 2 weeks

yea Rosalie is right...you can go to SSN office with your GC and international passport they will write out your ssn for you and post the card to you in 2weeks
