@Bayano, sorry to say but your answer was kinda off lol. You can't go further doesn't mean what you say it means.

It all depends on the branch of service. a friend of mine joined Navy and he said he got his at graduation. However I joined National Guard (Army) and I had to satisfy 1 year of service and have my commander 0-6 sign N-426, Request for Certification of Military or Naval Service. (The military must certify this form before you send it to us unless you are separated from the military at the time you file your Form N-400. In that case, you may submit an uncertified Form N-426 with your DD Form 214 or NGB Form 22.) So it’s possible I am now a citizen and I was also promoted during the waiting process, you just won’t be able to have your security clearance completed. Good Luck.

Good answer Kay Rob!!. For active duty soldiers, the minimum service time is 6 months, for the reserves and NG it’s a year. After that, the O-6 at your duty station signs your form N-426. This could take a month, or more or less. After that, you submit the signed form N-426 and N-400 to USCIS, and you should get an interview date within 6 months. I got mine in 3 months. And my ceremony was a month after my interview, on post. Good luck!!

@Sparklong praise. If your giving advice go ahead this is a place for everyone to share their own story. I am writing based on my own experience that simple. you share yours and keep it moving. What would I get from misleading anyone. go do your research. what’s works for you might now work for someone else. it’s also plastered over USCIS website under eligibility. So if you had a different experience AMEN!! You can’t tell me what I went through or experienced. this is from USCIS website as well. If you served honorably in the U.S. armed forces for at least one year during a period of peacetime, you may be eligible to apply for naturalization. While some general naturalization requirements apply under INA 328, other requirements may not apply or are reduced. Have a blessed day!!

i joined the navy, i had been a LPR for over 10 years at that point, and I was a citizen in a month and half. swore in right in boot camp. each situation is different but for me and 3 other men that's all it took. They had the application 90% complete for us. we signed, took pictures, finger prints and did the civic test at the same time lol. 4-5 weeks later we were swearing in
